Stake KYC: when the ID check comes, what it holds up, and how to leave cleanly

Documents and withdrawals

Stake can ask for documents at any time and requires verification for withdrawals, under clause 4.8 of its terms. Here is what the clause says, what a check usually involves, how location fits in under clause 14.4, and the 4 steps to take before closing an account.

The clause, in plain words

Clause 4.8 does 3 things. It lets Stake request KYC documents at any time, to confirm both who you are and where you are. It lets Stake restrict play, payments or withdrawals until your identity is sufficiently established. And it makes withdrawals subject to identity verification, with further checks possible on any later withdrawal. We read it in the copy of the Stake.com terms we opened in late August 2026.

The practical reading is short: plan to verify before your first cash-out, while nothing is waiting on it. A check started with a withdrawal already pending turns a paperwork task into a wait.

What a check usually involves

Curaçao-licensed casinos ask for a familiar set: a government ID, a live photo or selfie, and on large amounts proof of address or of where the money came from. Stake’s clause names identity and location; the exact list appears in the account when a check begins.

Stake.us, the US social casino, names its vendor. An article dated 13 November 2024 says users submit live pictures of documents such as ID cards and driving licences through Veriff, a third-party verification service. Checks of that kind reject more photos than people expect, so a few habits help:

  1. One account, in your own name. A second account is the fastest way to a frozen balance.
  2. Fund it from a wallet you control. Payments from someone else’s wallet invite a source-of-funds question.
  3. Keep the ID valid and the face recognisable. A new beard, glasses or a big change in weight since the photo can fail an automatic match.
  4. Good light, whole document in frame, no glare. Our own TrustDice check in May 2026 passed on the fifth attempt, which is normal for these systems.
  5. Answer from the account’s email and keep copies of everything you send.

Location: clause 14.4

Clause 14.4 treats masking your location as a breach of the terms, and Stake’s block window asks visitors to switch a VPN off and try again. Because a check under clause 4.8 covers location as well as identity, an account opened from one of the 47 listed regions can be closed at the moment money is due to leave. The list is on where is Stake legal.

Withdrawals

Crypto is the route on Stake.com, and the ID check comes first. The documents we read print no processing time and no weekly ceiling. That is where the casino differs most from the alternatives, and the table below shows how Stake’s rule sits among them:

The documents clause in each casino’s own terms, with its number. Our own money tests are marked as ours.
CasinoWhen documents are askedDeadline and detail
VaveBefore any payout, at its discretion (8.7)14 days; selfie with ID, call or video call. Our test: no ID up to 5,000 USDT
TrustDiceNo clause publishedOur test: none until about 5,000 USDT, then Veriff and a second request by email
RainbetAny time, and before any withdrawal (20.1)72 hours to complete; review up to 7 business days
MetaspinsOnce play reaches an unnamed threshold (9.7)Up to 30 days

StakeWithdrawals require identity verification (4.8)Location masking is a breach of its terms (14.4)

Closing a Stake account

The documents we read describe no self-service closure, so do it in writing:

  1. Withdraw the balance first. A closed account is a poor place to argue about a payout, and verification may be needed before the money leaves.
  2. Write to support, by live chat or at [email protected], the address Stake prints in its own block window. Ask for closure, or for self-exclusion if gambling is causing harm; self-exclusion is the stronger request.
  3. Keep the confirmation, with the date.
  4. Remove saved wallet addresses you no longer want linked to the account.

If gambling has stopped being fun, the National Council on Problem Gambling runs a free helpline in the United States, and every country has an equivalent service.

If the check is the problem

Two casinos like Stake let our own accounts go further before asking anything. Vave paid out up to 5,000 USDT with no ID request on 28 August 2026, under an Active Curaçao licence; its clause 8.7 still allows a check. TrustDice let us withdraw about 5,000 USDT in May 2026 before its first request. The whole ladder, from most room to least, is on no-KYC casinos like Stake, and the full review of Stake is on Stake review.

Open the casino

Does Stake require KYC to withdraw?
Yes. Clause 4.8 makes withdrawals subject to identity verification, lets Stake ask for documents at any time, and allows further checks on any withdrawal.
How do I delete my Stake account?
Withdraw your balance first, then ask support in writing to close the account, or to self-exclude if gambling harm is the reason, and keep the confirmation. The documents we read describe no self-service button for it.
Is it safe to buy a verified Stake account?
No. It breaks the terms, the account can be closed together with its balance, and the check in clause 4.8 can be run again at any time.
Why did my verification fail?
The usual causes are glare, a cropped document, an expired ID or a face that has changed since the photo. Checks run by services like Veriff often pass on a later attempt; our own TrustDice check went through on the fifth.
